Moments Matter, Attendance Counts!
At Moorsway, we believe that in order for children to fully benefit from their education, good attendance is crucial. We aim to ensure that all children receive an education that maximises opportunities for each pupil to reach their full potential. In order to achieve this, we work hard to provide a welcoming and caring learning environment where every member of the school community feels valued.
We hope you will support us by ensuring that your child obtains the maximum benefit from their time at school by attending punctually for the 190 days each year that the law requires (unless prevented from doing so by an unavoidable circumstances such as illness).
We recognise and understand that children do become ill and this may result in them being unable to attend school. We ask that parents make the school office aware of any absences by 9:30am for every day that your child is absent. Please find some useful links below that help to identify whether your child is well enough to come to school.
In order for our pupils to achieve their very best it is importance that their attendance is good. Every lesson really does count for your child and catching up on lost time from school can be really difficult. Good attendance is linked to increased achievement, positive relationships with other children, and improved learning behaviours.

A family holiday is not normally considered by the Government to be an ‘exceptional circumstance’ and therefore will not be authorised.
Please remember that, that should you choose to take your child out of school without the authorisation of the school, then Parental Responsibility Measures could be instigated. This could mean receiving any of the following;
Schools are only allowed by law to authorise non-medical absences if requested in advance. We can only authorise such a request if we are satisfied that there are “exceptional circumstances” which apply. An Absence Request form is available using the link below, or we can provide a paper copy via the school office.
