'A family where we flourish and learn to be the best version of ourselves'
We have worked with the children to understand how our five values underpin our school vision of being a family where we flourish and learn to be the best version of ourselves. These values also hold their own bible story which the children have explored.
Trust is the very essence of faith, trust in the God who is trustworthy. Trust is essential to human life and lies at the heart of all relationships. Trust is central to civilised society, to living together in harmony and so it is to be valued and honoured.
Jesus Calms the Storm
Jesus had spent a full day teaching on the shores of the Sea of Galilee he said to his disciples, "Let us go to the other side." So they left the crowd and got into a boat to cross over.
After a while there arose a great and mighty storm on the sea. The storm was so great that the boat was being covered with the waves washing over it and began filling up with water.
While the storm was rocking the boat Jesus was fast asleep on a cushion in the stern. The disciples came and woke him up and said, "Save us Lord; we are going to die! Do you not care that we are perishing"
He said to them, "Why are you afraid, Do you still have no faith?" Then Jesus got up and rebuked the winds and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. The men were amazed and said, "What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?"

Perseverance
Jesus is like the shepherd in the story, and we are like the sheep. Jesus watches over us and helps protect us from danger. He doesn’t give up on us when we make mistakes. And He rejoices when we repent and return to His gospel. That is why the scriptures call Him the Good Shepherd.
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
One day one of the sheep got lost. The shepherd left his 99 sheep in a safe place and went to look for the missing one. He searched high in the mountains and far into the wilderness. When he finally found his sheep, the shepherd rejoiced. He put the sheep on his shoulders and carried it home.
The shepherd called his friends together and told them how he had found his sheep. They celebrated together.

Compassion
Compassion is about 'standing in someone else's shoes' when they are having a hard time by trying to understand how they are feeling and offering a helping hand.
The Prodigal Son
While the older son stayed home and worked hard for his father, the younger son ran away with his inheritance and spent it on foolish things. Finding himself alone, working like a slave for food, and living with pigs, the younger son returns home begging to work for his father.

Forgiveness
Everyone makes mistakes, it's part of being human. Sometimes mistakes hurt others and we need to say sorry. Sometimes mistakes made by other people hurt us. When this happens we need to be able to forgive.
Zacchaeus, The Tax Collector
Zacchaeus was a greedy tax collector who cheated his brothers many times, until he met Jesus, who turned Zacchaeus' life around. Zacchaeus was transformed into a generous man.

Truthfulness
It takes courage to be honest. It’s much easier to exaggerate, pretend and put on a false front in order to be liked and respected. However, if we build our lives on a lie, the truth often comes out in the end and then the consequences can be terrible. People respect those whom they can trust, those who are honest. An honest friend will tell the truth and this builds up the friendship.
The Creation
God said, “Let there be light” and light appeared. God commanded, “Let there be a dome to divide the water and to keep it in two separate places.” God commanded, “Let the water below the sky come together in one place, so that the land will appear” God commanded, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate day from night and to show the time when days, years, and religious festivals begin; they will shine in the sky to give light to the earth.” God commanded, “Let the water be filled with many kinds of living beings, and let the air be filled with birds.” God commanded, “Let the earth produce all kinds of animal life: domestic and wild, large and small.” God said, “And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us. They will have power over the fish, the birds, and all animals, domestic and wild, large and small.” God created the world in six days and on the seventh day he rested.
The creation story represents truthfulness by God following his vision and allowing himself and his world to flourish around him.
