Our Christian Vision

Vision statement

‘A family where we flourish and learn to be the best version of ourselves.’

The Wise and Foolish builder (Matthew chapter 7:24)

‘Life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10)

Core Christian Values - Wisdom, Hope, Community and Dignity

Our vision encompasses our school values - Perseverance, Trust, Truthfulness, Compassion and Forgiveness

Underpinning our vision is the importance of wisdom. We try to reflect the Church of England Vision for Education which refers to Jesus’ wisdom as the builder of a learning community. ‘Early in his public ministry he gathered disciples (literally learners) and during his ministry a great deal of his time was spent in teaching and conversation as he formed a community of learners.’ Wisdom shapes the foundations of who we are, how we relate to each other and how we learn together. Everyone in our community is valued, known and part of our school family. We treat each other with compassion, recognising the intrinsic worth of each other and encourage being true to oneself and others -Truthfulness.

We take our inspiration from the way that Jesus taught about making wise decisions to guide our life long journey.  Being part of a wise and compassionate learning community, we understand that when we work well together we can achieve more than when we work alone. Building a flourishing community is the foundation of who we are, recognising and valuing each other's strengths and talents. We draw inspiration from Matthew Chapter 7:24 The Wise and Foolish Builder. The role model of the wiseman who chooses to build his house on a strong foundation is a powerful metaphor for how we should live our lives. We recognise that to be the best version of ourselves we need to make wise decisions, which allows us to build a strong foundation in life. Jesus refers to building a house on firm foundations reminding us all that perseverance is the root to growing your own wisdom.

As a school we value the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation and want to support children to realise their full potential, broaden their horizons and have hope for the future.

Finally, we want our children to be life-long learners, to build strong foundations and to grow in wisdom. This includes knowing how to apply the things they know and creating their own ethical and moral compass. We want children to learn that being trustworthy and trusting one another is the foundation of our compassionate community. It also includes knowing how to discern which “voices” to listen to and where to draw inspiration.

We believe that building a family and community feel as a small school is central to our role at Cornwood C of E Primary. We want our children to build strong foundations allowing them to flourish into adulthood whether they stay in our village or go on a journey to the other side of the world. We believe that our vision and values build a flourishing young person setting their goals high to be the best version of themselves.
