'A family where we flourish and learn to be the best version of ourselves'
St. Michaels and All Angels, Cornwood
We are very fortunate to have the Revd Paul Hinckley to guide us with his leadership from the church, allowing us to flourish and be the best version of ourselves.
Revd Hinckley is the vicar of the parishes of Ivybridge, Cornwood, Harford and Sparkwell, he has served in parishes all around the English counties and is delighted to be serving the parishes of the South Dartmoor Mission Community.
Revd Hinckley trained and worked as a structural design and safety engineer before turning his time to lead churches in their worship, prayer and outreach.
Becoming a Christian in his childhood in a church in a small village, he has spent much of his adult life helping churches to serve their local communities and helping individuals to make their own first steps in knowing, loving and following Jesus.
The church welcomes all villagers, and those who travel to us, to join us for our weekly Sunday worship. We currently offer a Communion service at 9.30am, following the forms of prayer of the Church of England in contemporary and accessible language.
We are rooted in prayer, in scripture, in sung worship [hymns and songs] and the shared life of our worshipping community, each of which inspire and grow our faith and our assurance of the presence of Jesus amongst us by his Holy Spirit
They are hoping soon to re-start their "Fresh Expression" of worship at 10am on the 4th Sunday of the month, with a more contemporary style for children and young people and those young at heart.
Open the Book team
At Cornwood C of E Primary school, we are very lucky to have a committed Open the Book team that come into lead Collective Worship once a half term. Open the Book (OtB) is an exciting storytelling project where Bible stories are shared with children in a way that is fun, interactive and memorable. We believe that a Bible story well told has the power to spark the imagination, inspire exploration, give hope, create a smile, teach important lessons and connect generations.
