'A family where we flourish and learn to be the best version of ourselves'
Due to falling numbers at Shaugh Prior Primary School, Exe Valley and Moorsway Federation have made the difficult decision that from September 2025, the remaining few children who will be on roll will be educated at Cornwood Primary School.
As the Summer Term 2025 at Shaugh Prior Primary School comes to an end, we have enjoyed many celebrations from a pool party to our leavers service in the village hall. It has been a challenging year for us as a school; following an OFSTED inspection in December, the number on roll at the school has dropped significantly.
In September, our school will remain open but the children who are on roll will temporarily be taken to Cornwood for their educational provision to ensure the best outcomes for the children. Exe Valley and Moorsway Federation will be working with Devon to secure longer term plans for Shaugh Prior Primary School.
As is typical of the Summer Term, we have embraced time in the school pool, enjoyed our Sports Day and a number of events across the Federation. The whole school had a really successful trip to Cadover Bridge, walking up through the woods and completing different forest school activities with the natural resources found on the way.
We now wish all of our staff and children a fantastic, well deserved summer break and a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the year.
Best wishes,
Mrs Penhallurick
